HOW TO MAKE PERFUME LAST LONGER

CWC GREEN STAG 75 ml Eau de Parfum with GMUNDNER Keramik

Sometimes a perfume seems to fade much sooner than expected. But that doesn't necessarily mean the fragrance has disappeared. How long perfume lasts on your skin depends on its composition, your skin, the temperature and how you apply it.

A few simple habits can make a difference.

How long does perfume last on skin?

Many fragrances remain noticeable for several hours. Four to six hours or longer is a rough guide, not a promise. Fresh citrus notes often fade sooner than warm, woody or heavier base notes.

How a fragrance develops on your own skin matters just as much.

Apply perfume to moisturised skin

Fragrance often fades more quickly on dry skin. An unscented body lotion can help prepare your skin before applying perfume.

Spray onto clean, moisturised skin and let the fragrance dry naturally.

Where should you apply perfume?

The neck and wrists are traditional places to wear perfume. Body warmth helps the fragrance develop and become noticeable.

After spraying, avoid rubbing your wrists together. Simply let the perfume settle and dry.

Why can't I smell my own perfume after a while?

Our sense of smell adapts to familiar scents. You may stop noticing your own perfume even though other people can still smell it.

So before applying more, give your nose a little time.

Which lasts longer: Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette?

Eau de Parfum generally contains a higher concentration of fragrance than Eau de Toilette. This can affect its intensity and how long it remains noticeable.

However, concentration alone doesn't determine longevity. The fragrance composition and your skin also make a difference.

How should you store perfume?

Heat, direct sunlight and frequent temperature changes can affect a fragrance over time. A cool, dry place away from sunlight is usually best.

Proper storage helps preserve the perfume in its bottle. That's different from how long it lasts on your skin.

Our tip

When discovering a new fragrance, try it on your skin rather than relying only on a paper tester. Give it time to develop and see how it wears throughout the day.

Both CWC fragrances, GREEN STAG and GREYFLAME, are also available in handy 20 ml Travel Sizes.
